Getting A Marriage Annulment Through The Church

For those who thought they found the one they were going to spend the rest of their life with and found out they were wrong, they may be considering getting a marriage annulment through their church. A legal marriage annulment that is recognized by the government has strict guidelines so if you were married for a good bit of time, you would be looking at a regular divorce. But, that does not mean that you cannot get a marriage annulment through your church if they offer them.

An annulment through the church means that you are still divorced but allowed to remarry in that church. Some churches will not allow their members to remarry in the church unless they get a marriage annulment. While to some people this may seem confusing, it is the only way to remarry in the church that they belong to so it is worth it even though it is a lot to go through. Getting a marriage annulment through a church is not generally easy and they do not give them to everyone.

Things To Consider

A lot of the churches that offer their church members a marriage annulment require

that you go through a big process. Some churches do require a huge payment for this and that does not even promise that your request for an annulment will be granted. And there are no refunds so they get to keep all of that money. You also have to fill out a lot of forms detailing personal facts about your marriage and explaining why the marriage ended. If they do not feel that you did everything possible to be a good spouse and to save the marriage, then you will not get your marriage annulment.

Now, even if you get the marriage annulment through the church, your divorce will stay on your record through the church. Even after the annulment, when you are ready to get married again there are still more papers to fill out and procedures to go through. It seems that marriage and divorce are taken extremely seriously in the church and they do not want you making the same mistake you did the first time around, even if it was no fault of your own. But if your goal is to remarry within the church that you belong to, this is all part of being able to get that done so that you can move on with your life.
